Award-Winning Canberra Builder: A Double Finalist at the 2026 HIA Awards

Exceed Homes has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 HIA ACT / Southern NSW Housing Awards — Townhouse of the Year and Townhouse Development (up to 12 dwellings) — for a dual occupancy in Ainslie, designed with our design partner Arkitex. Two nominations for a single project is recognition we’re proud of, and another mark of Exceed as an award-winning builder in Canberra.

Two homes, one standard

The brief was a hard balance to strike: two dwellings durable enough to perform as premium rentals, and finished well enough that an owner would choose to live in one. The result is a generous four bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, three living area layout in each home — a plan that never feels compressed by the density of the site.

The hard work is underground

Each dwelling has a full basement, deliberately concealed to keep the street frontage clean. Delivering it meant working within strict Tree Protection Zones: the basement excavation and structural footprint were engineered to coexist with established neighbourhood trees, so the streetscape reads exactly as the neighbourhood knows it.

Medium-density that fits its street

Services are integrated out of sight, the landscaping is low-maintenance by design, and the two dwellings sit within their leafy Ainslie context rather than imposing on it. Dual occupancy done well is one of the better answers to Canberra’s need for more homes on established blocks — and it doesn’t have to mean compromising on finish.

Built with a custom-home level of rigour

We bring the same bespoke, block-first process to a dual occupancy as we do to any luxury custom home in Canberra: architect-led design with Arkitex, in-house project management, and a single point of contact from concept to handover.

Understanding outcomes. Exceeding expectations.

Exceed Homes is also a finalist in the Renovation / Addition Project category at the same awards — read that story here. Winners are announced at the HIA ACT / Southern NSW Housing Awards on 23 October. Considering a dual occupancy or multi-dwelling build? Book a free site consultation.
