Exceed Homes has been named a finalist in the Renovation / Addition Project ($500,000–$800,000) category at the 2026 HIA ACT / Southern NSW Housing Awards, for a home renovation in Campbell. It’s one of the most complete home renovations we’ve delivered in Canberra, and further recognition of Exceed as an award-winning Canberra builder.
An underestimated house on a prime street
The project began as an under-insulated original on a wide-frontage block in an established Campbell street — the kind of house that’s easy to walk past and hard to lift to the standard of its location. The brief was clear: increase liveability and floor space, and bring the home up to the calibre of the street around it.
From three bedrooms to a four bedroom family home
Relocating the single garage to the southern boundary unlocked the floor plan. The renovation and extension turned the original three bedroom, one bathroom footprint into a four bedroom family home with two distinct living areas, a primary suite with a walk-in robe and ensuite, a gourmet kitchen with a walk-in pantry, a dedicated study/mudroom, and a large double garage. Bespoke custom joinery runs throughout, so every square metre of the new layout works.
A 7-star home you can’t see the work in
The biggest gains are invisible. A whole-of-envelope thermal upgrade took the home from minimal insulation and inefficient glazing to a 7-star Energy Efficiency Rating:
- R2.5 wall insulation and R6 ceiling insulation, with high-performance double glazing throughout
- The heavy concrete tile roof replaced with a lightweight Colorbond metal roof — less structural load, better thermal reflection
- Multi-zone ducted air conditioning for efficient control of the internal environment
One house, not two
The brick exterior was finished in acrylic render, unifying the original structure and the new extension into a single, contemporary form.
